Pranayama

Pranayama, the practice of breath control, is a fundamental aspect of yoga that
enhances physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. In this module you will explore the
science and philosophy behind pranayama, its physiological and energetic effects, and
its role in deepening a yoga practice. Through guided techniques, you will learn how to
regulate the breath to calm the mind, increase vitality, and balance the bodys energy
systems. This module will cover foundational and advanced breathing techniques, their
benefits, contraindications, and practical applications for personal practice and teaching.
In this module students will explore:

The Science of Breath – Understanding the respiratory system and its role in yoga.

Fundamental Pranayama Techniques – Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril), Ujjayi (Victorious Breath), Kapalabhati (Skull Shining), Bhastrika (Bellows Breath), and more.

Energetic Effects – How pranayama influences the nervous system, prana (life force), and mental states.

Integrating Breathwork – Applying pranayama within asana practice and meditation.

Teaching & Safety Considerations – Guiding students through breathwork with clarity and sensitivity.
By developing awareness of the breath, this module helps trainees cultivate deeper focus, balance, and vitality, both on and off the mat.
